About the Journal

Aim:

Southern Perspective / Perspectiva Austral is an interdisciplinary journal that serves as a platform for research and analysis in the social sciences, with a particular focus on human interaction, culture, individual and collective behavior, as well as social structures. The journal's primary aim is to advance both fundamental and applied research in these areas, highlighting the diversity of perspectives and approaches that enrich our understanding of social dynamics in a global context, with an emphasis on the realities of the Southern Hemisphere.

Scope:

The journal Southern Perspective / Perspectiva Austral welcomes original research papers, reviews, and diverse contributions that delve into a wide spectrum of topics related to the social sciences. Our scope includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Human Interaction: Research on the dynamics of interaction between individuals and groups, encompassing interpersonal relationships as well as interactions within organizational and community settings.
  • Culture and Society: Exploration of culture in its multiple manifestations, including studies on cultural identities, traditions, and the impact of globalization on local cultures.
  • Individual and Collective Behavior: Analysis of human behavior from psychological, sociological, and anthropological perspectives, including studies on decision-making, social conformity, and leadership.
  • Social Structures: Investigation into social structures and their effects on everyday life, including studies on class, gender, race, and power, as well as analysis of social institutions.
  • Social Change and Development: Studies that examine processes of social change, economic and human development, and the factors that drive or hinder these processes in various societies, with a particular focus on the Global South.
  • Inequality and Social Justice: Discussions on the causes and consequences of inequality, and exploration of strategies to promote social justice and equity in different contexts.
  • Politics and Governance: Analysis of political systems, public policies, and governance models, particularly those affecting societies in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • Environment and Society: Research exploring the relationship between the environment and human societies, including studies on sustainability, climate change, and environmental justice.

Visibility and Open Access:
The journal follows an open access model, which maximizes the visibility of published articles.

Frequency of publication:
The journal follows a continuous publication model, where articles after acceptance are typeset and published in a single volume per year. Therefore, the call for submissions is permanently open.

Speed of publication:
The journal manages the following times of the editorial process: 5 days for the first response from the section editor or pass to peer review; 30 to 45 days responses from the editor on the observations of peer reviewers; 5 to 7 days in layout, metadata uploading and publication on the journal's site.
The editorial team combines rigorous peer review with the efficient timing of the editorial process, which is done exclusively in electronic format.

Promotion and dissemination strategy:
The journal develops a strategy to promote and position published articles on social networks and web platforms, which contributes to increase exposure and access to the articles.
